About Course

The JAGS 11+ writing exam is unpredictable. Is your child prepared for BOTH possible formats?
 
This is the only course that prepares your child for the two different writing tasks that JAGS uses: passage-based story continuation AND picture-based description. We give your child the skills and confidence to tackle whichever format comes up on exam day.

Welcome to the JAGS course! This exam is a bit different from the others. In this module, we'll look at the unique "sandwich" structure of the exam and the two different types of writing tasks you might get. We'll also explore some clever time management strategies.

Passage-Based Story Continuation
Let's get ready for the first type of JAGS task! In this module, you'll learn how to read a passage and continue the story in a way that feels natural and exciting. We'll look at how to match the author's voice and practice with a real exam paper.

Picture-Based Description
Now for the second type of task. In this module, you'll learn how to look at a picture and find all the interesting details. We'll explore how to describe a "mixed blessing" and how to write a powerful description in just two paragraphs.

Descriptive Writing Toolkit
Time to fill up your writer's toolkit with some super-powered skills! In this module, you'll learn all about 'Show, Don't Tell', using 'wow words', making your sentences flow, and creating awesome comparisons with metaphors and similes.

Exam Practice
You're almost there! In this final module, you'll get to do a timed practice for both types of JAGS writing tasks and get my top tips for exam day. Let's get you ready to shine!
