11+ Creative Writing Mini Course

One of the essential things in creative writing is making your characters believable. That means making them realistic and three-dimensional, with quirks and personalities that make them unique. Here are a few tips from an experienced writer to help you make your characters more believable.

The first thing to do is to ensure that your characters are three-dimensional. That means they should have a past, present, and future. Your characters should have motivations and goals. Their dialogue should be natural, not forced or stilted. And they should react realistically to the events unfolding around them.

Another important tip is to give your character flaws. No one is perfect, and neither should your characters be. Give them quirks and weaknesses that make them human and relatable.

Finally, don’t forget to show, not tell, when it comes to your character’s personality. Use actions and dialogue to reveal who they are rather than simply telling the reader about them. With these tips, you’ll be well on creating believable, compelling characters in your creative writing.
